The Neponset River Watershed Association (NepRWA) is a grassroots, member-supported conservation group working since 1967 to protect and support the Neponset River, its tributaries and surrounding lands for current and future generations. NepRWA members, staff, Board of Directors, volunteers and supporters work to restore habitat, reduce pollution, improve resiliency and increase public access to Neponset River resources and recreational opportunities.
NepRWA accomplishes this mission through:
· Environmental monitoring, science, research and planning;
· Outreach and education to the general public and targeted audiences;
· Demonstration projects that highlight new and existing best practices;
· Political action at the local, state and federal levels;
· Collaboration with watershed municipalities;
· On-the-ground cleanup, restoration and preservation projects;
· Advocacy and, when necessary, litigation; and
· Public events that highlight recreational opportunities along the river.
The Neponset River is 34 miles long, running through parts of 14 towns. The watershed encompasses 120,000 square miles and about half of the more than 330,000 people who live in the watershed rely on it for drinking water.
